Jenny’s Journey: From Fear to Strength at Original Strength Institute

Get ready to hear an awesome story about Jenny, one of our fantastic members at Original Strength Institute (OSI). Jenny, a former Air Force dynamo, faced a six-year wrestling match with an unknown immune disorder that had her feeling totally out of sync. But guess what? Her journey back to feeling like herself started when she found us and teamed up with the amazing Cathy, our rockstar personal trainer.

Jenny’s Review: 

Jenny’s foray into OSI began with a chance discovery on Facebook, thanks to a post by Dani, one of the owners.

Intrigued by the promise of a supportive fitness community, Jenny poured out her health concerns in a message to Dani. To her surprise, a prompt response led to a free session with Cathy, OSI’s dedicated personal trainer.

Despite grappling with fears and self-doubts, Jenny decided to take a leap of faith. Cathy, with her infectious smile and genuine warmth, welcomed Jenny and spent time discussing the gym’s philosophy of “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”, instantly putting her anxieties to rest. In August, Jenny committed to two sessions a week, marking the beginning of a life-changing journey.

Jenny’s own words next, are what we think can really help others: “I was convinced it would hurt, I wouldn’t be able to do the workouts, and all the other self-doubts one could have. But I forced myself to go. Cathy was so patient with me. I had to have to repeat the instructions so many times in the beginning! But she took her time with me.”

Cathy’s patience and commitment played a crucial role in Jenny’s transformation. Despite the initial challenges, Jenny found herself actually looking forward to each session. Cathy’s ability to gauge when to push and when to adapt workouts to Jenny’s needs showcased her dedication to her clients.

As Jenny began to attend sessions regularly and feeling the benefits of her hard work, she even decided to add a third session to her weekly routine. “There are times I walk in, and she explains what she wants me to do, and my eyes widen with anxiety, but I trust her now to know I can do it and that she wouldn’t ask me to if I couldn’t,” shares Jenny.

“It was the best investment I have ever made in myself, and I am so thankful I messaged Dani that day and met Cathy. She is perfect for me, and I can’t imagine life without her now!”  Since writing this, Jenny’s husband has also begun personal training with Cathy even!

Some Perspective from Coach Cathy: 

Cathy, the guiding force in Jenny’s fitness journey, shares her observations of Jenny’s progress. “Jenny walked in scared and timid and unsure if she could do anything at all! With patience and baby steps, she is now excited to come to the gym, feels ‘off’ when she can’t make it in, and overall knows she is stronger and healthier because of it! Jenny is hardworking and dedicated and a pure joy to work with! Over the several months we’ve worked together, I have seen tremendous growth! I’m so proud of her!”
