There’s nothing like a good workout to boost your energy, improve your mood, and make you feel more alive. But you know what makes it even better?
Doing it with someone you care about.
Whether it’s your best friend, your spouse, your sibling, or that coworker who’s always “thinking about getting back in shape”, inviting someone to join you at the gym can be a powerful gift for both of you.
The Benefits of Training with a Friend or Loved One
1. You’re more likely to stick with it.
Working out with a friend makes you 95% more likely to stick to your goals. That’s no lie, studies show that people who train together show up more often and stay committed longer.
2. You push harder (and laugh more).
Having a workout buddy naturally adds a little friendly competition… or encouragement when you’re not feeling it. You lift more, move better, and usually laugh a whole lot more along the way.
3. It strengthens your relationship, not just your muscles.
When you go through challenges together, even in the form of burpees or sled pushes, you build trust, deepen your connection, and create shared experiences that carry over beyond the gym walls.
4. You’ll have someone who gets it.
Celebrating small wins like your first push-up, a heavier lift, or simply making it through a tough workout hits differently when someone you care about is there with you.
But… How Do I Ask Someone to Join Me?
We get it….it can feel awkward to invite someone to the gym, especially if you’re worried they’ll think it’s a judgment or pressure.
Here’s the key: Keep it casual, supportive, and centered on what they might love about it.
Try something like:
“Hey, my gym is doing this Bring-a-Friend Month, and I thought of you. It’s super fun, no pressure, and you get a free week to check it out. Want to come with me to class next week?”
or…
“You’ve mentioned wanting to feel better/get stronger/move more—I’d love to bring you to my gym. It’s a really welcoming place, and this month they’re letting us bring friends to try it free.”
If they say yes—awesome. If they hesitate, just let them know you’re there when they’re ready. No pressure. But just planting the seed can go a long way.
Why It Matters More Than You Think
You never know what someone’s going through.
Maybe they’ve been feeling stuck, stressed, or overwhelmed. Maybe they’ve wanted to make a change, but didn’t know how.
Your invite could be the exact nudge they need.
And even beyond the workouts, you’ll be giving them community. Encouragement. A reminder that they’re not alone.
And This Month at OSI…
To make it even easier, we’re running Bring-a-Friend Month all July long:
-
Your friends get a free week to try out the gym
-
If they sign up, they get a $100 gift card toward training
-
YOU earn points toward weekly prizes and the $500 cash grand prize
Because strong people lift each other up—and we’d love to meet your people.
So, who’s your “one”?
That one person who comes to mind as you’re reading this.
Text them. Invite them. Bring them in.
Let’s get stronger—together.
