Member Spotlight: Kat and Justin Fraser

At Original Strength Institute, we love celebrating the dynamic duos who make our gym such a vibrant place. This week, we’re putting the spotlight on one of our favorite couples that we love to work with and see consistently putting in the work: Kat and Justin Fraser!

Meet the Frasers: From High School Sweethearts to Regular Gym-Goers

Kat’s Story: Kat, a stay-at-home mom with a passion for travel, reading, and volunteering at her kids’ school, wasn’t always a gym lover. “When I was younger, I never enjoyed working out. I’d go to the gym occasionally to walk on the treadmill or use the elliptical. Weights intimidated me,” she admits. But everything changed when she and Justin joined a kickboxing gym before having kids. “We were consistent members and felt great,” she says.

Fast forward to their move to Fuquay, and Justin was already ahead, scouting out gyms. “He started at OSi right away and after attending for a few weeks, he took me to try a class, and I loved it,” Kat recalls. Now, she’s found a love for strength training that keeps her energized and pain-free. “I am stronger, it’s easier to move and play with my kids, and previous back pain has disappeared,” she says with a smile.

Justin’s Story: Justin, a business owner who loves spending time with his boys, camping, traveling, and smoking meat, found OSi before they even left New Jersey. His fitness journey was a bit hit and miss until he started personal training with Coach Will. “I feel stronger, I am losing weight, and I am meeting consistently with my trainer, which keeps me focused on my goals,” Justin says.

Despite a hectic schedule, Justin’s commitment to his health has never been stronger. “Working with Will has shown me we can make the time as the workout is a priority. If we schedule the workout early, I can make my work schedule fit around it,” he explains.

The Fraser Fitness Fun:

  • Kat’s Favorite Workouts: “I love pushing or pulling the sled because it makes me feel strong. Rocking is my favorite reset because there are so many ways to do it.”
  • Justin’s Favorite Workouts: “Sled, tire slams, throwing sandbags.”

Why They Love OSi: For Kat, it’s all about the supportive community and dedicated coaches. “The coaches at OSi truly care. You’re not just another number to them. Their motivation has pushed me to do things I never thought I could,” she says.
Justin echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of accountability and motivation. “Working with Will has been transformational! He pushes me and holds me accountable to reach my goals (and keep showing up),” he shares.

Goals and Motivation:

  • Kat’s Goals: “Increasing my weights and changing my nutrition. I’m currently pregnant, and my goal is to continue moving consistently and prioritizing my nutrition throughout the entire pregnancy.”
  • Justin’s Goals: “Continue lifting heavier and continued weight loss.”

Both Kat and Justin are motivated by their growing family and the desire to stay healthy and active for their kids. “Knowing we have another son on the way makes me want to be healthy for my family for a long time to come,” Justin says.

    • My Tip: Commit to a regular schedule

Kat’s Advice: “Stick with it. Even if there is something you can’t do, there are a ton of things you can do! You will quickly see your strength increase and the overall benefits.”

Justin’s Advice: “Try it, you will love it!”
