????Cue the Latin music and dancing and meet our girl Beatriz!
She is full of life and you’ll see her rocking a big smile, red lipstick, cheering on her gym friends, and dancing while at it. Bea started of at OS Institute not totally sure if she was ready to jump into working out at a gym. A few of her friends convinced her to come try a small group session and she got hooked pretty quick. She fit right in… even if she was pretty sore the first few sessions and wanting to kick her friend’s butt.
Even with her busy work schedule and 3 kids Bea made a commitment to taking care of herself because she knows that it allows her to be her best self in all aspects of life.
We are so grateful that Bea joined the OSi Family and to see how strong she has gotten and how much her family has embraced her commitment to healthy living.
Take a minute and get to know more about Beatriz below.
What do you do for work?
I am a retail store manager.
What ELSE do you like to do?
I love to spend time with my three kids, especially if there is ice cream involved! I love to dance and keep in touch with my Columbian family. I like to watch soccer and enjoy a glass of wine with friends too.
How did you hear about OSI? So
From my friend, and neighbor, Dani, one of the owners of OS Institute.
What was your fitness journey been like in the past?
When I was young, I never thought about needing to be a member of a gym. Then there was marriage. About 10 years ago, my husband needed a kidney transplant and by a miracle, I was a perfect match! Shortly after surgery, we expanded our family by adding three kids under 3! My life became crazy to say the least and health was the lowest priority on my list.
Now that the kids are older, I’ve had the opportunity to free up some time for myself and found that I really enjoy working out and feeling better. I’ve made awesome friends on this journey and grateful for the family and progress I’ve made at OSI.
What positive impact has OSI had on your life?
Being part of the OSI family has been a life changing event for me.
I have a healthier lifestyle, I am conscious of what my family and I are eating on a daily basis, my stress levels are lower, I enjoy my kids much more because I can keep up with their energy level. I am proud to be a role model for them on how to be active, love ourselves no matter how we look and take care of our bodies on the outside as much as the inside.
I am a happy individual, I have increased my self esteem and energy levels and lowered my cholesterol. I have reduced two pant sizes and I feel strong AF!
What is your daily schedule like and how do you find time to fit in movement throughout your day?
I have a job where my schedule varies week to week, and I work A LOT.. and have to drive quite a bit to get to work. I try to fit classes in whenever I can. The 6 am class Tuesdays and Thursdays work for me most weeks. I try to press reset at least a few minutes every day since I am on my feet for more than 8 hours at work. Cross crawls are always happening at some point of my work day.
What has been one of your biggest obstacles when it comes to sticking to your game plan in the past?
My work schedule and I am not going to lie, I like to sleep. I really need at least 7 or 8 hours of sleep a night.
How has OSI helped you redefine that obstacle?
Friendships and the culture at OSI, holding each other accountable and celebrating any progress!
What achievements are you most proud of since joining OSI?
Eating healthier and feeding my kids healthier meals.
What is a new goal that you would like to achieve?
I want to work on doing an “I AM ABLE” challenge.
What motivates you to continue showing up, even on days you would rather throw in the towel?
My kids. They deserve a better me every day. Plus the texts from Rebecca and Dani. 😉
What is your favorite movement and reset? Why?
I can’t pick just one. I have a love hate relationship with deadbugs, but I like how my core feels after I am done.
Do you have any advise for newbies or for those interested in trying OSI?
Please try it. You will like it. It is true what they say. Start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can..And if I could…trust me, you can too.
Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself?
I like to dance salsa.
I like to eat salsa.
I like when someone else makes the salsa.
What is your favorite jam to workout to?
Anything with a latin vibe.
Do you prefer the mountains or the ocean?
I grew up in the Andean region of Columbia where the most delicious coffee is from. Definitely the mountains.
Favorite food?
Anything with a Latin flavor. Did I mention I am Columbian? And that I love salsa?
What would you tell yourself if you could go back in time to the day of your first visit to OSI?
Stick with it.. I am still doing it two years later and loving it.
Anything else you’d like to share with us or tell us about?
Our coaches are the best! They inspire, they care, they are funny, they listen, they push, they celebrate and they laugh! They are awesome! Thank you!!
